Our Main Instructor here at Red Rock Horseshoeing School is Dave Abel.

Dave has been a fulltime Farrier for 17 years. Disciplines including Hunter Jumper Barns, Rodeo Performance Horses (Barrel Horses, Roping Horses) , Paint Horse Show Barns, Gaited Horses, Western Pleasure Show Horses. Trail Horses. Drafts to Mini's. Dave was the Treasurer for Western States Farriers Association for 2 years and a Board Member for 1.

Dave shoed horses in S. California for 10 years and 7 years in Nevada. He says his love for study and gaining knowledge about his craft has given him a very rewarding life, and hes been very lucky to have known and learned from some of the best Farrier's in the World. "The American Farriers Association and their clinics, competitions, and certifications taught me everything I know along with working experience everyday and working with vets. Symmetry and Hand Made Shoes are my passion. Shoeing Horses is a Great Life!"

Dave graduated from Sierra Horseshoeing School (Instructor Mark Paine) and has worked as a fulltime Farrier every since. He has a patient but firm hand and a great teaching technique and quick to smile and joke with his students. He believes a small class is mandatory for a premium learning experience (5 students). He says "The success of my students is my main concern. I've supported a family for years shoeing horses and they can too. A good positive attitude and a willingness to work hard and study hard is all it takes to be successful."

Other Instructors: We have special guests come in and give lectures and demonstrations for each class. For instance, Gene Armstrong was here July 6, 2011 to give his High Point Lecture and Shoeing Demonstration. Gene is an excellent speaker/instructor. He has shod horses professionally for 40 years. Inducted into American Farriers Association Hall of Fame, was the West Coast Regional Examiner for the A.F.A. Certification Program, Professor Emeritus at Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, taught Farrier Science classes and Equine Science classes for 35 years.
