Class Schedule

Week 1
Classroom: Anatomy, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments and their functions. Tools and their use.
Forgeing: Basic Forgeing Skills. All tools will be assigned. Forge your own Hoof Pick to use and KEEP. You will make your own Tool Caddy for use at the School and ITS YOURS to take home. (Materials Supplied)
Horses: Proper Farrier Posture. You will work on horses 1st week.

Week 2
Classroom: Continued study of Anatomy and Physiology.
Forgeing: Exercises and Hot Shoes.
Horses: Trimming and Shoeing Horses.

Week 3
Classroom: How to recognize Confirmation maladies and address them.
Forge: Keg Shoe Modifications. Fronts, Hinds, Rocker Toes, Square Toes.
Horses: Trimming and Shoeing Horses.

Week 4
Classroom: How to Trim and Shoe for Numerous Confirmation Faults.
Forgeing: Hand Made Shoes. Keg Shoe Modifications. Trailers and Extended Heels.
Horses: Trimming and Shoeing

Week 5
Classroom: Lameness issues. Definition, signs, causes, and treatment.
Forgeing: Hand Made Shoes. Keg Shoe Modifications. Applying Pads.
Horses: Trimming and Shoeing.

Week 6
Classroom: Regroup- Lameness's. Anatomy. Physiology. Confirmation.
Forgeing:Straight Bar Shoe. Keg Shoe Modifications.
Horses: Trimming and Shoeing.

Week 7
Classroom: Gait Faults in Horses and Treatment.
Forgeing: Pre-Forgeing Exam- Keg Shoe Modifications.
Horses:Trimming and Shoeing.

Week 8
Classroom: Go over studies for final Written Exam. Business Practices. How to deal with Vets and Horse Owners professionally. Scheduleing Clients (Log Book for students to take home with them). All Final Written and Final Practical Exams will be given this week. Red Rock Horseshoeing School Graduation Ceremony.
Forgeing: Practice and Final Forgeing Exam.
Horses: Trimming and Shoeing.
